Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 21, 2026. Short version: we only collect the email address you give us, we only use it to send you the newsletter, and you can unsubscribe any time.
What we collect
- Email address when you subscribe to the newsletter.
- Optional name when you provide one on the signup form.
- Whatever you type into a contact, submission, nomination, or sponsor inquiry form.
- Basic server logs — standard request metadata (IP, user agent, referring page) that our host collects for security and abuse prevention. We don't use these for tracking.
What we do with it
- Deliver the daily newsletter to your inbox.
- Reply to you if you've contacted us.
- Improve editions based on aggregate, anonymous engagement signals (e.g. "how many people opened it") provided by our email sending service.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your email address.
- We don't share your information with third parties other than the service providers we use to run the newsletter (see below).
- We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies on this site.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of tools to run the site and newsletter. These providers only see the information strictly needed to do their job:
- Netlify — hosts the website, processes form submissions, and stores subscriber records.
- Email service — sends the newsletter (e.g. Buttondown, Beehiiv, or similar; subject to change).
- Payment processors (if you tip or sponsor) — Buy Me a Coffee, Ko-fi, or equivalent. We never see or store your payment details.
Unsubscribing
Every edition includes an unsubscribe link. One click removes you from the list; we don't require a reason. You can also email us to be removed.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what information we have about you, request corrections, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Children
The Daily 5+1 is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top and, for meaningful changes, give subscribers a heads-up in an edition.
